Sol Sands Hotel & Self-Catering

The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and room service was helpful. When my car's mobiliser stopped working, the staff helped me get new batteries. On my first day in Durban, I wanted to cancel because I didn't like the area, but arriving at Solsands changed how I felt about the city. The moment I opened the door, we saw the ocean, ships, boats, palm trees, people, cars, Ushaka, and SAPS and metro police keeping everyone safe. It was breathtaking. At night you can hear the ocean, and you sleep like a baby.

The rooms smell really bad and feel very stuffy. They need renovating. The window in my room was unstable and rattled in the wind all night. It didn't look clean at all, even if it had been cleaned. And the paperwork you have to sign is way too much admin. We have technology for a reason.

The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. Our room was roomy and clean, and the sheets smelled fresh. The bed was really comfortable.

The elevator was being maintained, which cost it a star. Everything else worked well: the room and bathroom were clean, reception was helpful, and the fridge, freezer, fans, and TV all worked. The bed was more comfortable than I expected.
