Erlesmere Lodge

We wished we could have stayed longer after our four nights here. The rooms were very clean and tidied every day, with fresh towels and sheets changed daily. Everyone was friendly, and shops and places of interest are very close. An excellent spot for a holiday.

The three-bedroom house is lovely, and the woman on site was attentive and kind. Florida Road is only a two-minute walk away, making this a great weekend getaway. Parking is limited if you're traveling as a group with several vehicles, and the yard is tight for maneuvering, so Uber may be easier.

The staff were friendly, but there were problems throughout the place. The bathroom smelled of sweat, a towel smelled sour, the shower door didn't seal properly, and the floor was dangerously slippery stepping out of the shower. A grip in the bathroom would've helped. The remote was broken, although it worked with a button missing, and the handwash had clearly been used by previous guests. There wasn't enough milk even for one small coffee. The curtains had mold, the roof was only half painted, and palm trees were damaging cars. They also didn't warn us that Capitec payments could be an issue. The owner took two days to reply to my email. You have to ask for the Wi-Fi name and password and write it down yourself, since they don't provide it in a book or on the wall.

The photos online gave a misleading impression of the house. The furniture was old and dated, and our bedroom door had no key and wouldn't lock. The kitchen had no bowls, pans, or cleaning products. Our group of nine was extremely disappointed with the state of the place, and we won't return or recommend it.
