The place is neat and spacious, with a lovely garden, but we booked the whole guest house and still had no privacy. The helper stayed until 8pm and came back at 9pm, ate in the kitchen, and had a cider. A guest from the other guest house also came into the house and went to the wardrobe for his clothes. When we arrived, the kitchen smelled bad, with some kind of meat boiling. The dining area has plastic chairs with weak legs, and one guest didn’t have enough hot water for a shower. There’s no Wi-Fi. The pool was sandy, as stated on the website, and the lounge TV didn’t work. The pillows are high and hard.

It could be a good place, but the owners need to be friendlier and there’s no Wi-Fi. Taking a self-catering booking and then saying guests can’t use the stove makes no sense. Being hurried out at checkout because other guests are expected also wasn’t professional.

Nature lovers might enjoy the setting. It’s in a quiet part of Cowies Hills, up high with views over Westville University and Pine Town, about 2Kms away. There’s a big pool and a snooker table, and you can even spot the ocean and large ships in the distance.

I had to move rooms because the first one had no toilet seat and a door that wouldn’t close. At least I could use the bathroom comfortably in the new room, but its TV was stuck on one channel. I wouldn’t stay again.

The service was great, and the rooms are lovely with really comfortable beds. A small bar fridge and kettle in the rooms would be useful, though.
