The location is great for the price, and check-in was easy, with decent facilities. But there was no air conditioning, fan, or any other way to cool the room. With so many mosquitoes and no repellent, we had a terrible night. Even a basic fan would have made a big difference.

There was loud shouting and fighting from drunken groups right outside our room well into the early morning, and we also woke up with bites from what might have been bugs or spiders in the bed. It could even have been bed bugs, though I can’t say for sure. The beds felt like stone, so our sleep was awful. For what we paid, the stay was far below what I expected. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The braai facilities were great, and I appreciated seeing water-saving practices in place, especially during the drought. It was a pleasant stay, and meeting other travelers is part of the Backpackers experience. I’ll visit again to enjoy Franschhoek.

It’s clean, neat, and a really nice place. The mosquitoes are no joke, though, so they should fit roof fans and UV light killers. I’d still definitely stay here again.

It’s right in the centre, so you can walk everywhere and get that lovely village feel, with a movie theatre next door. Homely and the cheapest bed in Franschhoek, too. The linen is clean, and the staff are very friendly. Heirich is always helpful and accommodating. My favourite overnight stop in Franschhoek! 🏆
