Lavender Farm Guest House

The pool is beautiful, the staff are fantastic, and breakfast was lovely. The views are gorgeous and the pool area quiet, so it’s otherwise a fantastic small hotel. But the Wi-Fi was down the whole time. A scammer had apparently hacked into their system, and I got no call or notification from the hotel. I nearly sent the scammer money, and I’m sure others may have too. The rooms were a little run down, we had to pay for water, and there were a few ants around.

A very nice place with helpful staff and good service. The room was big and well equipped. It’s a little out of town, and there were mosquitoes because of the lake. A good base for staying in franschhoek and enjoying the wine region.

I’d definitely stay here again if I returned to South Africa, and I thoroughly recommend it. The hotel sits right by the centre of the action at Franschhoek, with grounds laid out in a French provincial style, spacious rooms, and a lovely central pool. The staff were kind and attentive, the drinks by the pool were reasonably priced, and breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean and roomy, with a safe for valuables too.

The views across the lavender fields and surrounding mountains are stunning. The room design also shows exceptional attention to detail, from the materials and finishes to the lighting and comfort.
