Rickety Bridge Country House

The vineyard walk and cellar tour led into a wine tasting, and Glen made the whole visit especially good. He was fantastic, accommodating, and knew his stuff. I've been to plenty of wineries as a tour guide, and this one really impressed me. The setting, wine, and atmosphere were all spot on. I'll be back.

We first stopped here when we arrived in Franschhoek, then came back near the end of our two weeks in South Africa because we liked it so much. The tasting is nicely priced, though the experience feels quite upmarket, and the setting is fantastic. We tried some of the best wine of our trip here. Jemma, who hosted our tasting, was brilliant, knowledgeable, and loads of fun. Highly recommend it.

The restaurant was clean, but I left disappointed with where our wine tasting group was seated. We were a group of nine, so I understood needing a long table, but there were empty tables in the main restaurant and outside. Instead, we were put in a room that felt like an extension of the restaurant, right beside the toilets. I'd been looking forward to enjoying the lovely outdoor setting, so the spot we were given felt underwhelming.

The small number of rooms made our two nights at Rickety Bridge (Homestead) feel welcoming and exclusive. Everyone we met on staff was lovely, and the service was brilliant. Our refurbished room was top quality too. We had a great time and hope to come back. Thanks!
