The concept is nice, but some parts of our stay didn’t match what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel. I’m not confusing country style with outdated facilities. Style is about design and atmosphere, while service and technical standards are separate things. Our experience was that the equipment seemed old, room cleaning was inconsistent, and requests took quite a while to be handled. The internet was weak and unreliable, which was inconvenient by today’s standards. It would also help to explain at check-in what to expect about basic items like adapters. This is meant as honest, constructive feedback that may help the hotel and future guests.

We arrived on a cold, rainy afternoon and were glad to find underfloor heating. The rooms are roomy, the bed was very comfortable, and there are lovely gardens and ponds. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast by a big log fire was five-star quality. The gym, library and pool area could use a little maintenance.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great. It’s set among some of the world’s best wine farms, with beautiful mountain views. Good accommodation and a good experience.

The bed was excellent, the rooms and bathroom are large, and breakfast was good. The estate itself is lovely, with nice grounds and pool areas, though it needs some TLC and the pavilion is close to derelict. The rooms feel very dated. Dressing gowns would be useful, and the lighting is more general than focused. Would I stay again? No.

The patio had a great view, and our spacious accommodation was tastefully decorated. We had a fabulous few days, it felt magical, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was delicious and the pool facilities are great. The WiFi was extremely slow, though, and one room had no remote for the aircon despite temperatures reaching 38 degrees.
