The owners were phenomenal, and those little extra touches really made the stay worthwhile. The Lodge has a peaceful feel and a lovely spot to take in the sea view. Breakfast had just the right variety. I’ll definitely return.

Dave welcomed us warmly, with Lulu 🐶 and Ninja 🐈⬛ there to greet us too. The open sea view as we entered the lodge was a wow, and the whole place is beautifully decorated. We loved the flowers and garden details, the bar, and the cozy boat-themed lounge. Caron, the very talented chef, made us an amazing dinner and breakfast by the fireplace. The food was reaaaallly goooood! Our room was spacious and had everything to keep us warm and comfortable. Highly recommend the scenic drive to Gansbaai and a stay at this lovely lodge ❤️

After long days at sea, the delicious, carefully made meals were just what our group needed. We were 10 researchers and enthusiasts in Gansbaai for a shark expedition, and Saxon Lodge was ideally located near the harbour and for exploring the area. Caron and Dave welcomed us from the moment we arrived and took genuine care of every detail, making sure our group had what we needed. Their hospitality was extraordinary. The lodge has a warm, personal atmosphere that quickly felt like home, and our stay was comfortable and truly memorable. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Saxon Lodge to anyone visiting Gansbaai for research, adventure, or simply to enjoy this part of South Africa.

The food was so, so good, some of the best I’ve had in a long time. Our hosts were incredibly kind and made sure we had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable, and both the room and bathroom had lots of space. The lodge felt welcoming and comfortable throughout. I’d 100% recommend this guesthouse!

I spent a week there, and all the staff were amazing. Whenever I needed something, they were ready and happy to help. I had breakfast and dinner too, and every meal was perfect.
