A good-value place to stop for the night, with a little braai in front of each unit, plus a pool table and TV. It’s close to Gariep dam and the highway, handy when driving between Gauteng and Cape Town. The rooms matched their description, and the staff were friendly and easy to talk to. The shower was a letdown: hot water lasted less than two minutes, and the shower head needs cleaning because it sprayed in every direction. There was incense burning when we arrived, and the smell was much too strong throughout the property. I don’t mind incense, but it could be lit a couple of hours before guests arrive.

Rustiq restaurant served good food. We enjoyed the Karoo lamb chops, T-bone steak, and ribs. The slap chips were the real soft kind, so ask for them crispy if that’s what you prefer. The accommodation itself was basic but clean and functional, in a quiet country setting.

The place smelled awful, the kitchen had cockroaches, and the rubbish hadn’t been taken out for days. The owners had a terrible attitude, and we weren’t treated properly. It was a terrible stay.
