We arrived late, but Carla was there within minutes to check us in, with a friendly smile and great service. The location, price and stay were excellent. I’d recommend Jasmine Cottage anytime.

My daughter and her husband spent 5 days here. They found it beautiful, clean and comfortable, with well-kept gardens and a breathtaking view. It’s well equipped and close to all amenities.

I stayed in the cottage behind the main house, where Basson lives, for a long time. I’d paid in advance and didn’t want to fight over a refund, and it was a busy time of year with little else available in George. That’s why I stayed, but I’ll never consider returning. I waited a few months to write this because I hoped Basson wouldn’t come after me. Before booking, I’d seen his responses to negative reviews on different platforms and thought nothing of them. My experience with him changed that. He could be unpleasant, and I didn’t like the way he treated or spoke to his staff, the gardener and housekeeper, or how he spoke about them. He was often away, especially on weekends, without telling me. If there had been an emergency, he wouldn’t have been there. When I had problems, I sometimes couldn’t reach him on his cell phone, and he’d reply much, much later, sometimes more than a day later. Leaving guests alone on the property next to his own house for days with no way to contact him if something went wrong felt irresponsible. One time, the front door got stuck again and I had to go to bed with it open. Basson was away for the weekend, and I was alone on the property. There are also plenty of problems with the property itself. It needs a lot of repairs and maintenance. The front door sometimes wouldn’t lock, unlock, or close properly, which was a huge safety risk. The living room gets full afternoon sun, but there are no blinds or curtains on the kitchen side, so it gets sweltering on a hot day. The fan provided is extremely noisy, and cooking in that room with the sun in your eyes is difficult. After several unpleasant experiences with no hot water, I was told the geyser runs on a set timer. That’s something guests could have been told at check-in. Wi-Fi was nearly nonexistent and cut out entirely in the bedroom. The list goes on. Basson, if you read this, please take it as an honest account of my experience, not an attempt to get at you. I can only hope you use this review to improve how you run your business.

Families, especially those with kids, please think twice before booking here. We booked for 2 nights, with 4 adults and my 3 children, all under 5. After the first night, the man told us to leave or he’d call the police. He said we were criminals because the booking was for 3 people but there were 7 of us, counting the kids as people. We asked if we could pay extra for the children or find somewhere else for them to stay for the second night, leaving 4 people there, but he refused and kicked us out. He also abused me and my family. I’d advise people not to book with these people.
