Protea Hotel by Marriott George King George

We were looked after so well, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. A huge thank you to Monique and Zimasa, and especially to Cheryl for outstanding customer care and going above and beyond. The rooms were comfortable, and Anwin and Syia took good care of us in the restaurant. The food and wine were delicious, and breakfast was excellent. The dining team were wonderful, and the lovely chef served everything with a warm smile. I forgot her name, but she was delightful. We’ll definitely return.

We were given a complimentary night at the Protea King Hotel, and when I emailed, they immediately confirmed they could fit us in. We then extended our stay by another 2 nights. Dear Caryn-lee and Protea team, thank you so much. When we arrived, we were greeted with such friendly faces and grace. I didn’t even have to say who we were. They helped with our bags, reception was fabulous, and to our great surprise, they took us to room 509. Best room ever. Many thanks, Kate

As a single mom travelling with two teenage boys, I felt safe, supported, and completely at ease here. The location was great too, close to everything from game drives to Wilderness. We’ve stayed in quite a few places, but this one really stands out. It’s more than just a 4 star, it felt like 5 star treatment with heart. My boys loved it. One staff member even spent time tossing a rugby ball with my son, which he absolutely loved, and they made my eldest’s birthday feel special. The food was delicious, especially the chicken schnitzel my boys are still calling the best they’ve ever had. Breakfast was enjoyable too. Every little request was sorted quickly and kindly, even extra milk or fixing the phone, which took only minutes. The suite was spacious, calm, and felt safe and special. Everything was pristine and well cared for, and the bedding was luxurious. From the moment we arrived, the staff showed us real kindness. On our first night my son came down with the flu. Without being asked, they brought warm garlic broth with honey to our room for two nights, and by the next morning he was already feeling better. Thank you for making the stay so memorable. The breakfast buffet was well organised and very good quality, and the service was excellent. Staff were friendly throughout. Our room was very clean and spacious, which worked well for travelling with a baby. The bathroom was a little small and dated, but okay. Dinner was fine, though it fell a bit short of what we expected. The service was still very good. We had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel.
