Bubble Ball Guest House

We had trouble with the booking and with the guesthouse finding our reservation. The internet listing also gave a misleading picture of the place. It may have been three-star accommodation once, but it doesn't feel that way now. The reception smelled bad, the couches were very worn and dirty, and the badly painted walls were dirty too. The neglect showed throughout. The lovely wooden floors hadn't been polished or varnished in a long time. We'd booked a room for me and my son with two beds, a large fridge and a kettle. Instead, we got one double bed, a small bar fridge and no kettle. The shower drained poorly, with mould in the corners and on the bathroom walls. We were given just one towel, and the clean one supplied two days later was stained. The mattress was sponge, the pillows were cheap, the bedding was old, and there was no flat sheet. The sign at the gate advertised bed and breakfast, coffee and tea, and free Wi-Fi, but there was no Wi-Fi and no food or drinks. We were there for a gala, and everything else nearby was booked, so changing accommodation wasn't practical. At least we had somewhere to sleep, but it wasn't as advertised.
