The location is great, but service from the hotel employees was mediocre. The hotel feels stuffy from the old floor carpet and has a pungent smell. There were cockroaches infesting the rooms, so check them before booking. I even took some cockroaches home with me.

The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and reception didn’t seem to know how to sort it out. Management came by later and asked what might make us more comfortable, then gave us a bag full of tea and coffee sachets. We also asked to check out two hours later, but the R650 charge felt steep when our one-night stay had cost R918.

Being right by the beach was ideal for us. The place was very nice, though it seemed to still be under renovation, and nobody had warned us about construction noise next door.

We were moved to another floor because of cockroaches, but the problem was still there.

The ocean view was fantastic, and the shower was great. But the room let the place down: the aircon didn’t work, the toilet walls weren’t clean, and the mattress sagged. The bedding was worn, though clean. Looking down from the view, there was a green pool and empty sealant containers on the roofs below. Such a shame, this must once have been a jewel. I don’t think it’s worth the price.
