The Hillcrest Guesthouse

After returning to our farm and hard work, we wanted a break, so we booked a week here. The rooms were extremely quiet, and the place was spotless. There's a pool and braai area, with a 24/7 petrol station and supermarket within walking distance. The beach and a larger store are close as well. We felt safe walking in the evenings, with several security cars stationed around the area. The host and staff were excellent. This is surely the best guesthouse in East London, and where we'll stay when we're back in EL.

We stayed at The Hillcrest for nearly a month while on a research placement in East London, and felt looked after the whole time. Heidi welcomed us in person and had rearranged the bookings so we could have the biggest rooms for our longer stay. They looked just like the photos. The house is in an upscale neighbourhood, and the security presence nearby helped it feel safe. Heidi also suggested places to eat and things to do, and all her recommendations were excellent. We got sick early in our trip, as first-time visitors to South Africa, and she checked on us regularly. That gave our families back home peace of mind. Breakfast was amazing, beautifully presented, and brought straight to our rooms. On mornings when we had to leave early, Heidi prepared takeaway packs for us. I'd recommend The Hillcrest without hesitation to anyone staying in East London.

A warm welcome and a very well-run guest house. The setting and rooms were immaculate, and breakfast was both generous and tasty. It's also easy to get to the beaches, shops, and restaurants. We'd happily stay at the Hillcrest Guest house again next time we're in East London.

Our host was so friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and roomy, with a comfortable bed, and breakfast in the morning was generous and tasty, served right in the room. The Beacon Bay area is convenient, and the place was easy to find. The cat and dogs are cute too. ☺️
