Greenacres Lodge

I've stayed here twice for business, and it's been good value for money both times. Arlene is very helpful whenever I've needed to call on her.

Arlene welcomes you warmly and goes out of her way to make the stay enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and clean, with a really comfortable bed. I love staying at Greenacres Lodge and would definitely recommend it.

Getting to the reception was already a bad start. Someone who seemed confused handed me three keys and said we had to sort ourselves out. We arrived at 15:00 on a Saturday, and it clearly wasn't a convenient time for them. My husband and I had only one towel. The shower worked, but the cleaners could use a quick YouTube search to learn how to remove the mould. Apart from that, the room was clean, though it badly needs care and attention. There were no complimentary items at all: no shampoo, tissues, bin bags, or hairdryer, not even one available from reception. Parking was difficult, especially with a big car. Breakfast for R100.00 was enough food, but pricey, and there was no filter coffee. Our group had seven people, and I thought the hostess could have helped the cook speed things up instead of smoking just outside the dining room. I've also written a similar review on TripAdvisor. This was by far the most unwelcome I've ever felt arriving somewhere. I'd only consider staying again if I couldn't find another place. Green Acres Mall is within walking distance, and I spotted an Intercape intercity bus office just a few metres from the lodge.

The room had a dank, unhygienic smell and looked dirty. During the height of the coronavirus pandemic, visible dirt was still on the floors, the complimentary items, and the bathroom door. More effort with the cleaning would definitely help.
