I’ll have to come back, since there's still plenty more to explore. Trails End made it easy to fall for riding in Grabouw, with friendly staff, great meals, and a comfortable room. Pieter also gave excellent trail recommendations and navigation.

The food was good and the service excellent. Breakfast was pretty basic, but not bad. In the room there was just a very comfortable bed and a fan, no coffee or tea. It got very hot, and the only window was tiny and above the bed. The bathroom was communal.

I’m here most weeks for MTB riding, and I also eat and spend time socialising. Mountain biking is the main draw, with trails in the Elgin Valley that might be the best in western Cape, and the area is a global mecca for MTB riders. There’s also a great restaurant and bar, a bike repair service and bike museum, plus a hotel geared to its main visitors that also hosts conferences. It really has everything a mountain biker could want.

We got a fantastic rate for two nights at Trail’s End during a trail running weekend with friends, and were very happy with the stay. The place is beautiful, with a great team and excellent service. The food was incredible, with good vegan and veggie options. Pieter, the owner, even took us on a bike tour through the proteas on his birthday. We’ll be back :)

A mountain biking hotel that feels like a little paradise. Such a cool idea, with great service and a warm, cosy atmosphere. It made for a really memorable stay. Highly recommend!
