This gem was a welcoming delight, on an easy-to-find road just outside Makanda/Grahamstown. Thoughtfully built, with lovely touches, it made for a comfy home away from home for as long as we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially the lush, peaceful garden and the impressive sunset. Highly recommended.

Even with the crazy wind, this place was an absolute gem. The cottage is super cute, though a bit tight in a few spots, but it worked well enough for two. We used the bottom beds for packing and the top bed for sleeping. Everything was immaculate.

They don’t serve food on-site, but each chalet has a lovely braai area. The chalets are peaceful, cozy, comfortable and very clean, with a lovely atmosphere. They’re well equipped, so you just need to bring your clothes.

We had a great adventure in Makhanda Grahamstown during the National Arts Festival 2022, and Stones Throw was a lovely place to come back to each night. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the host and staff were efficient and friendly. We had good lighting in the evenings during loadshedding, though getting a warm shower was challenging. Thank you!

The views are spectacular, and the surroundings are breathtaking and quiet. The cozy, well-kept cabin is set up to make your stay pleasant, and the price is very affordable. They make sure you’re well catered for and aim to please. This would be my first choice if I passed through Grahamstown.
