Mountain View Manor

My partner was very happy with the warm, attentive service from the owner, and the stopover felt both beautiful and safe. Mountain View Manor offered good value for the quality and service. Thanks to everyone there. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone needing somewhere to stay in Grahamstown.

We arrived to find no one from Lodge management there to welcome us, and all the security gates were shut. The place was freezing, with an unlit fireplace, and the lounge and dining area were so cold that we skipped the dinner we'd paid for. It felt more like a jail than a guest house. There was a strong mould or chemical smell that made sleeping difficult. The shampoo, lotion, and body wash were in old, worn plunger bottles that didn't work, so I had to pour the products out in the shower. For a four-star guest house, this was a real disappointment. Nothing about the stay felt personal or welcoming. Sadly, I won't book my clients here for the planned six weeks over the next few months.

From the hill behind the manor, you get beautiful mountain views and can see all of Grahamstown. It's one of my favourite places to stay here, with lovely staff and really good food.

The view is absolutely beautiful. The owner, though, was one of the rudest people I've met. A small, genuine misunderstanding turned into a big fight within minutes after she started insulting me. Her staff member had to calm her down. Iigs
