The braai was superb, the views are amazing, and the staff were absolutely wonderful. It’s a great choice if you want to be near the battlefields. One thing to know about getting there: leave your car at Rorke's Drift Museum and don’t drive down to the lodge without a 4x4. The staff can pick you up from the museum if you give them a call.

Thulani was a terrific guide, full of enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of both the battlefields and the history of the Zulu Nation. We had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of days, with excellent communication and accommodation. The rooms were impressively spacious, and they arranged an excellent dinner for us. Many thanks. One suggestion, though: that road could use a grader. Cheers.

I was in the area for work and got booked at Rorke's Drift Lodge. Wow, what a place for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors. Even the adventurous drive up from the bottom end of the road is a cool experience. My room was amazing. They’d prepared the fireplace, and it was so cozy and warm that I ended up watching Netflix until around 2am, even with a cold front that night. I can still taste those breakfast flapjacks!

The views at sunrise are magical, and I’d stay again just for that and the incredibly delicious food. I spent two nights here while touring Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift. The rooms are quite large and well appointed, and the lodge is nicely secluded. If you don’t have a 4x4, you can park at the Rorke's Drift Museum, which has 24 hour security, then have the lodge send a driver for the last 5km of road.

We enjoyed our visit in October 2018, especially having a spare day to explore the farm and take in the spectacular views. The accommodation was very pleasant, with a proper kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom, and the food provided was excellent and plentiful. The battlefield tour with Paul was comprehensive and thought-provoking, and the packed lunch was delicious too. It’s a long day, so be prepared, especially if you have children. This place is a long way from a tarmac road, and the last few kilometres are quite an adventure, but that’s made clear in advance and adds to the feeling of being out in the bush. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re interested in the area’s history.
