A Bird Cage Stay & Cottage

The kitchen opens straight into the tiny bathroom, which I found off-putting and unhygienic. There’s hot water, though, and the bathroom works despite its size. We stayed in the cottage rather than the main house. It’s charming and beautifully decorated, but very compact, really only enough room for two. The hosts clearly put effort into making it comfortable, with plenty of towels and blankets, including an electric blanket. The cosy lounge has a small fireplace. Kitchen equipment includes a microwave, fridge, two-burner gas stove, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery, but the counter is crowded and there’s barely room to prepare food. Storage is all on open shelves, which feels cluttered, and a few basics were missing, like an egg lifter, wooden spoons and a chopping board. The bedroom is also very small, though well equipped.
