The Wi-Fi was the worst part, barely usable at around 500 KB/s, and that helped cut my planned multi-night stay down to just one night. Getting through the gate was difficult too, since the woman there refused to open it. She wasn’t very welcoming, and I felt unwelcome more than once when she turned down simple requests. Definitely a strange experience.

Decent place to stay, though the Wi-Fi signal in my room was really weak.

The rooms were clean and roomy, and the food was delicious. It also felt very safe, with a pool and some pleasant spots to relax. The owners and staff were welcoming and friendly. A nice backpacker hostel, and I’d definitely recommend it in Joburg(:

The male staff member I spoke with was helpful, but a female staff member laughed when I asked for help with my luggage after I’d climbed the steep driveway with it. Our room and linens smelled moldy, and the sheets and pillows were stained and discolored. There was mold on the shower head and curtain too, as shown in the photos. Staff ignored us and didn’t explain how to leave and get back in. Book somewhere else.

I especially liked the glass room and the views around the bay area and pool. There are also nice places nearby to visit, shop, and enjoy entertainment. The staff were friendly and responsive to guests’ needs, and the rooms were great. I’d recommend this different but lovely place to anyone staying in Johannesburg.
