Had lunch outside, and our waitress was really friendly and helpful 🙂 The meal was enjoyable, though the food is quite pricey compared with most places around the dam. Amanzingwe is gone, and it’s now La Joya. The new place feels very different, with none of the old country atmosphere. It’s much more upmarket.

The venue itself is nice and the food was delicious, so if good food is what you’re after, this place has it. The service and atmosphere, though, took some of the shine off the meal. During our nearly three-hour year-end function at Amazingwe, the waitress asked me only once what I wanted to drink. My starter and main course arrived together, which made it awkward to eat with both plates in front of me. I’d expect a pause between those courses. Some guests also played their own music, and it was quite disturbing.
