The views are lovely and the property has real potential, but I came away feeling the money wasn’t worth it. Gyno was a delight to deal with, though I wish he could persuade the owners to put more effort into the guest experience. People will pay for quality. I’d booked a birthday getaway for my boyfriend through booking.com at 3900 ZAR a night, based on Mister C’s 4-star rating. Gyno, the property manager, explained that booking.com adds commission and suggested booking direct. But switching meant cancelling first, waiting three working days for my money back, and paying another 2900 ZAR straight away to hold the booking. I would have had 7000 ZAR tied up until the first payment came back. When we arrived, the room was dusty and clearly hadn’t had a deep clean in a while. Their website showed a dinner menu, and I’d asked days beforehand about the price of having a cake and candle brought to our table after dinner. That would have been a good time to tell me they don’t serve dinner. Instead, when we asked what time to head to the dining area, we were told they “don’t do dinner.” What was meant to be a romantic evening turned into driving around at night until we found a roadhouse for a very casual meal. Breakfast came with the stay but was below average, so I’d look for somewhere else to eat in the morning too. The coffee machine can’t even make a cappuccino. If you decide to go, I’d book through the property’s own website and arrange meals elsewhere. There’s no proper food served at the accommodation.
