With all six rooms occupied by my family, Maputaland Guest House felt like home for four wonderful days. All thirteen of us were comfortable, relaxed, and happy in the tastefully furnished house. Every area, from bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms to the kitchen, living and dining rooms, and garden, showed attention to detail. We didn’t lack a thing. Our two little boys were practically in the pool all the time, and nothing outside could compete with it. We made exquisite meals in the kitchen and outside, and had a memorable celebration. I’m grateful to Jörg and his team for their warm hospitality and for working tirelessly to keep everything spotless and welcoming.

Jörg and Gisela made me feel welcome even before I arrived, and I really enjoyed talking with them. They do a great job with the rooms and breakfast, and their recommendations for the area and South Africa were very valuable. The room had everything I needed, including anti-mosquito devices. It was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and breakfast offered a great variety, including fresh fruit salad, cheese, and cooked options. Maputaland Guesthouse is a true home away from home and a gem in St.Lucia. Highly recommended!

Before we checked in at Maputaland Guesthouse, we spent ten days on safari with Jörg, who organized everything. His knowledge of South African wildlife and nature enriched the trip, from game drives to hidden places off the beaten path. He also helps guests plan and book excursions in St. Lucia, sharing insider tips you won’t find in guidebooks. The guesthouse is within walking distance of everything in town, and you can walk to the beautiful beaches too. The tastefully furnished rooms had very comfortable beds, and the quiet surroundings meant restful nights. Breakfast was delicious each morning, served with care. Jörg is a warm, knowledgeable host, and we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. St. Lucia is a unique destination. Hippos roam the streets in the evenings, grazing peacefully in the village, and day trips to nearby national parks brought wonderful wildlife sightings and breathtaking scenery. We had a fantastic stay and would return in a heartbeat, whether for a base in St. Lucia or as a great safari guide.

Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, and the tropical garden was lush and peaceful. This guest house is in an unparalleled location and felt like our home away from home in St Lucia. St. Lucia is a total gem, and go see the hippos! Jörg and his family were incredible hosts and made our stay comfortable and memorable. This was my favourite accommodation during my month-long trip in South Africa. Highly recommend!
