Hippo Hollow Country Estate

The buffets are spectacular, and everything around the property is kept so clean, from the pools and grounds to the cool, tidy rooms. I’ve been here twice now and it feels more peaceful each time, almost like coming home. Lesedi, Anri, Martha, Alifie and the rest of the staff were great. The river chalet views are amazing, and the garden pool feels private. Garden chalets and deluxe garden chalets have lovely garden views and their own patios.

We only managed one night and wished we could have stayed longer. The river chalet view was outstanding, the gardens were gorgeous, and the room was comfortable. We came home feeling refreshed, as if we’d had a much longer break. The food was superb, service excellent, and the welcome warm. It also felt like good value for money. A lovely, down-to-earth place.

The view was lovely and we really enjoyed the food, though the mini burgers were a bit hard and the BBQ wings didn’t seem fresh. The service was poor and unprofessional. We had to keep asking for the same things because staff weren’t attending to our needs. The reservation manager also made me pay a staff gratuity when confirming the booking. Had I known how the service would be, I wouldn’t have paid it. They didn’t deserve a tip.

The River View rooms were stunning and had a lovely atmosphere. My family and I had an amazing stay at Hippo Hollow Country Estate, with beautiful rooms and staff who were friendly and very efficient. We’d definitely come back, and highly recommend the property.
