6 Stemmet Lodge

The staff were always pleasant and helpful during our recent two night stay. The Lodge is perfectly placed for getting to the shops, coastal walk and beaches. We really enjoyed it.

The location made it easy to walk into town, and the cliffs were a great place to look for whales. It’s a clean, well-run budget option, with friendly staff and a nice breakfast.

We really enjoyed staying at 6 Stemmet Lodge. The room was great, and everyone working there was lovely. There’s a binder in the room full of useful local suggestions, from places to eat to hikes. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of food, and you can walk from the lodge to the Cliff Path and follow it into the city center.

We’d booked the whole lodge for our annual family holiday for the second time. The first visit had gone well, but this one left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. The staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating, and did their best to help us throughout. The problems started with the TVs in our rooms not working. Staff contacted the owner, Mr Stemmet, who came to look at them, then told staff to pass on that nothing could be done until Monday. That was inconvenient and unacceptable as paying guests. There were other maintenance problems too: broken drawers in one room and a broken toilet seat in another, neither fixed. Mr Stemmet also accused us of short-paying. He spoke rudely and dismissively, and singled out my 71-year-old mother, talking to her like a child. He told her, “Take five minutes out of your busy day to work out how much you paid.” He kept talking over her and wouldn’t listen. He said we could never book again, then said, “WE WILL NOT BE SPEAKING EVER AGAIN” and ended the call immediately. His manner was arrogant and deeply upsetting for our family. The staff gave excellent service and went above and beyond, but their efforts couldn’t make up for the owner’s attitude or lack of accountability. We won’t return, and I can’t recommend the lodge in good conscience.
