The Whale on Main B&B

What made this Hermanus BnB feel special was the host’s genuine welcome. He treated us like family, and we felt very well looked after. The interiors were lovely too, mixing elegance with a cozy, homely feel, and breakfast was superb: fresh fruit salad and/or muesli with yogurt, followed by a choice of three hot dishes. We’ll keep supporting this beautiful BnB when we visit Hermanus, even though Zeno and Marlene may be moving on. And thanks for the birthday treats, they were truly appreciated.

The Whale on Main is in a lovely spot near the walking paths by the sea. The rooms were quiet and nicely furnished, breakfast was fantastic, and the stay felt like great value. It’s a beautiful B&B in Hermanus, now under new, very capable management.

The Whale on Main B&B was our first stop on a two-week trip around South Africa, and we couldn’t have asked for a better beginning. We stayed three nights in this gorgeous place, run privately by Marlene and Zeno. Their care and enthusiasm made it feel like coming home, and they were always helpful with great ideas for food and things to do. We loved the room and breakfast. Thanks so much for having us. We hope to see you again, perhaps in Hamburg, Germany one day.

We hadn’t been to Hermanus before choosing The Whale on Main, and I only wish we’d booked more nights. Next time we will. The rooms were spacious, spotless and beautifully furnished, with safe parking and a scrumptious breakfast. From booking through to leaving, I couldn’t fault the stay. Marlene and Zeno took care of everything we needed, and Martha was always helpful. I’d recommend it without hesitation.
