Little Africa Safari Lodge

Our safari at Moditlo River Lodge was the highlight of our South Africa trip. William, our guide, was great company and knew his stuff. On our first day he helped us find all of the Big 5, the Ugly 5, and plenty of other animals. The lodge is beautiful and relaxed, and the staff made us feel welcome right away. I can’t recommend it enough for an unforgettable safari.

The one disappointment was the food. Apart from one sensational plated dinner, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the other days often felt bland and didn’t offer much variety. I expected meals at a lodge like Moditlo to match its standard, so that kept this from being a perfect stay. Everything else was wonderful. We loved the comfort, equipment, supplies, and thoughtful little touches in our luxurious room. The housekeeper came twice daily, including a last visit to turn down the bed, which was such a nice touch. Christabel welcomed us warmly, and our safaris were incredible. We were lucky to have Dumi guiding and Derick tracking, both very experienced at finding animals.

Derrick and dame made our two days living in the savanna a great safari. The hotel was good and always attentive to safety, which makes sense when you’re right among the animals’ routes. We also enjoyed local dances and songs during meals. I’d recommend it as a well-rounded South African safari experience.

We spent four nights at this high-end lodge and were completely immersed in nature and human kindness. The staff were attentive to all our needs, and there was more food than we could manage. It was delicious. The safari drives in the bush were unforgettable, with experienced rangers whose guidance let us see the Big Five within arm’s reach.
