The mountains in the background make a stunning setting, and animals wander past your room throughout the day. The morning and evening drives are kept to very small groups, up to four people, so they feel wonderfully intimate. Add dinners from a really good chef and great wine, and you have the full Nyumbani estate bush lodge experience. On arrival, it already felt like a dream. Ian, Maxime and the rest of 'the family' did everything they could to make our stay memorable.

Elephants came to the pond while we had our morning coffee, which was such a treat. The food was lovely, and thanks to chef Onion and all the staff for making the stay so good. We also enjoyed both game drives, one early in the morning and one at the end of the day. We named the animals we hoped to see, and the team managed to find them. Nyumbani was a perfect stay, just go and enjoy it.

A little slice of bush heaven, with wonderful hosts, great service and outstanding food. The game drives were excellent too, and the guides shared so much about the wildlife and bush. Thanks to Ian, Maxine, Onius, Matimba, Patricia and Kensani for making our visit so special.

I was here three years ago and only just realized I never left a review. I still remember it as the nicest hotel we stayed at in South Africa. It felt like a very exclusive private lodge at a fair price. Chef Onion's food was amazing, and the breakfast and aperitif safaris have stayed in my memory.
