Vuyani Safari Lodge

The room had a mini fridge that was topped up every day, plenty of water, and insect repellent in case we needed more. The food was good, and we never had any issues with it. We stayed three nights after another lodge in the area. The staff here were great, always helpful and checking that we had what we needed. They also kept our glasses full. We enjoyed the game drives, and the drivers explained a lot. When we got caught in heavy rain, our driver got us back quickly and safely. I’d definitely come back.

Godsave and Bernet were brilliant as tracker and driver. We saw so many amazing things on the drives, with lots of laughs and fun along the way. The whole Vuyani family treated us like one of their own, and we even made friends from all over the world. We had a wonderful time at vuyani, seeing things we never could have dreamed of. They made us fall in love with South Africa, and we can’t wait to return someday. Thanks for the best holiday ever. P.S. Bernie, when that book gets written, me and Shannon want a copy 😉

The morning and evening drives were the best part of our six nights at Vuyani Safari Lodge, from 2-7 November. We saw the Big 5 several times, plus plenty of other animals and birds, often very close. Solly, our guide, and Chris, our tracker, were endlessly enthusiastic and went out of their way to make each outing feel special. We also took the Blyde Canyon boat trip, which was well worth it, and a day trip to Kruger. The sheer number of animals there was impressive, though binoculars helped since we didn’t get as close as on the Vuyani drives. Our Presidential Suite was beautifully decorated, with a shower and bath, plus an outdoor sitting area with a jacuzzi. Within ten minutes of arriving, we spotted warthogs, impala, and Nyala just outside the window. All the staff worked hard to make our stay comfortable. The food was tasty, good quality, and plentiful. We had a fantastic time and would recommend Vuyani to anyone wanting to experience a safari.

There were no hidden fees or upselling, which is unusual for an all-inclusive stay. Even the minibar in the room was included. The river trip and animal rehabilitation centre were both worth doing, and reasonably priced when booked through the hotel. We had six hours of safari each day, split between a morning and an evening drive. The reserve is huge and full of wildlife, and we don’t think we had a single drive without seeing one of the big five. Solly and Stephen were fantastic as guide and tracker, knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. The hotel food had a good range and was excellent. Everyone was very friendly, and Wisdom was always around to help. We couldn’t fault the holiday and will recommend Vuyani to friends and family.
