We keep coming back because this is one of my favourite places to stay, and the ambience is amazing. The deluxe rooms are stunning, though I do think there could be a few more food options. Don’t miss the wine tasting. Desmond is the best.

The spa was the highlight for us. The short woman at the spa reception, whose name I didn’t catch, was absolutely amazing, and the massage therapists were exceptional. The whole spa experience was par excellence. Nonhlanhla/Nhlanhla also brought back my faith in the service. She was always smiling, attentive, and eager to help, and Thando was wonderful too. We had a clean, comfortable deluxe room where everything worked perfectly, in a relaxing green setting with an excellent location. A few things could be better, though. Some staff seem to assume every African guest speaks isiZulu, which can be frustrating. It’d be better to start in English and switch if the guest does. Breakfast felt repetitive by the second day of our three-night stay, and could use a revamp. Aside from two excellent female servers, the other staff seemed disengaged and rarely checked on us. We saw another couple leave the restaurant and eat in their room because of the poor service.

While my wife had a massage, the boys and I enjoyed some light food at the restaurant. The pizza, burger, and pasta were great, and we also walked down to the spectacular river at the foot of the hill. After her massage, we found it hadn’t been done as advertised, so I raised it with the manager, Busa. Following a few conversations, Busa apologised on behalf of Zama, who gave the massage, and offered my wife a 30-minute massage. We’ve travelled away from Howick, so we still need to decide on a date. We really appreciate the apology and offer, and will definitely be back for more. The ladies assisting in the restaurant were all great.

The spa was amazing, with friendly, professional staff and a wonderful experience. The views and peaceful surroundings are unforgettable. We weren’t impressed by the restaurant, though. Better to drive somewhere nearby for a bite.

We had lunch and dinner in the dining area, and both the food and service were amazing. The couple’s spa treatment was one of the best I’ve had in KZN. With lovely accommodation, facilities, and staff, this made a great honeymoon spot, and it’s easy to get to the Midlands Meander. Definitely worth a stay for any occasion.
