Foxwood House

The best thing about Foxwood House is its lovely staff. Everyone was welcoming, kind and friendly, and the breakfasts were terrific. I had a spacious suite for my recent eight-night stay, plus a private garden that opened onto the beautiful gardens of the estate. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed somewhere more hospitable or restful. I highly recommend Foxwood House!

I enjoyed my eight nights at Foxwood House in November 2025. The rooms were comfortable, the service was friendly, and the gardens are beautiful. The place has good vibes, and my Colin's suite had a lovely view of the big garden. Foreign visitors to Johannesburg should be prepared in case the power goes out. Occasional insects are part of the wildlife, and the room has matches and a candle for that. Thank you!

The house itself is lovely, with spacious rooms, pretty gardens and a generator for loadshedding. It also works well as a conferencing venue, and the staff were kind. Lunch was incredibly tasty, but breakfast needs attention: it was just fried eggs and bacon, served one order at a time, so our group of eight waited. There was no tea, coffee or fruit, and we had to ask for yogurt on both the second and third mornings. The rooms also had no soap or cream, which was inconvenient.

We had a great stay and would definitely return. The lodge feels calm and leafy, with a lovely atmosphere, spacious rooms and good security. Breakfast is served in the old historic mansion, and the buildings are joined by winding paths through a peaceful garden with duck ponds and even swans. The staff were friendly, professional and provided excellent service.
