Garden Court Eastgate

The room was good, but the water was cold in the morning so I couldn’t shower. Dinner on the second night was chaotic after the schoolchildren arrived. They made a mess serving themselves, so perhaps staff should serve them instead.

It was chaos at dinner. The hotel was fully booked for a karate tournament we were taking part in, and after we sat down a man began shouting at the manager while everyone watched. Then a large, loud group arrived for dinner and there wasn’t room for them to eat. The lights went out several times, making people pay and leave the restaurant. Around 10 pm the fire alarms went off too. What a circus.

My family and I left very early the next morning, around 5:30, because we couldn’t take it anymore. Drunk guests were banging doors and partying in the early hours, and nobody did anything. My child woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep, and the noise gave me a migraine. The room was filthy and smelled damp, with sticky stuff on the chair that I hope was just bubblegum. Service was fine, nothing special. Don’t expect much from breakfast either, it wasn’t appetizing, and they even served old stroganoff from the day before. I’ll never return.

The so-called senior management had a bad attitude when guests complained about breakfast, apparently because they wanted to enjoy the leftovers. Breakfast is for guests, and they acted as if they owned shares in the company, forgetting they’re just workers. The noise from other guests, in and outside the rooms, made it impossible to sleep. The rooms smelled of old dusty carpet, and the curtains had a dirty smell. The duvet inners were dirty and smelly too. They even used the same dirty old floor rag, from toilets and toilet seats, to wash the tea set. I’m Madira.
