The views are insane, and I’ve made lovely connections with everyone I’ve met here. Add fires, beers, and great pizza, and you get the real deal. The Wild Farm Backpackers is rugged and properly wild, just like the name says. It won’t suit everyone. If you want something polished and tame, this probably isn’t your place. But if you’re after nature, simplicity, and adventure, come here. The adventure starts on the drive in.

We ended up socialising until 4 AM, first on the restaurant/bar/deck with its stunning views, then over pool, and finally around a bonfire with a group. That atmosphere was unforgettable. We met travellers from America, England, and Germany, as well as locals from Paarl and the North West. That mix of people from all over is what makes backpackers special. The Wild Farm is rugged but beautiful, and suits easy-going people who enjoy shared spaces, stories, and connection. The staff were amazing, and so were the other guests. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely go back.

The driveway up to the gate could use some work, though we managed it in a small car. The staff were exceptional, always helpful and good-natured, no matter the time. And what a view. I don’t think you’ll find accommodation with a better one. The pizzas are amazing too!

The view is beautiful, but that’s the only good thing here. Our cabin and the bathrooms weren’t clean, and bugs were in our beds. The shower water was brown and had leaves and dirt in it.

Once the music stops, it gets quiet. It’s for a pretty niche crowd, people who like being human, down to earth, barefoot, and friendly. I loved every second.
