The Munro Boutique Hotel

The room feels spacious and has a distinctive look, with stunning views. The service is quite reasonable, and the location is very straightforward.

We paid ahead for a three course Valentine’s Day lunch that was meant to include live entertainment, but there was no entertainment and nobody apologized or explained why. The table wasn't ready on time, and the waiters were careless and unsupervised. The food was poor: the steak was dry and seemed to have been cooked earlier and reheated. Everything came out in a rush, with no breaks. The water was warm, without ice or lemon, and bread with melted butter only arrived after the main course. We could have had better service at KFC. This isn't a five star establishment and should be reassessed. We won't return or recommend it.

Everyone was very helpful, and the view is sublime. We had a beautiful supper with great wine, though we felt the Presidential suite could use an upgrade. The other suites were stunning.

Before the national lockdown, I cancelled my wedding months ahead of the date because my circumstances had changed, and I did so under their contractual rules. After that, staff became completely different: they hung up while I was still speaking, and emails that had once received instant replies were ignored. Getting hold of anyone became a nightmare. They didn't follow their own contract and made false promises, keeping a large sum they owed me for as long as possible. I once thought this was one of the country's most beautiful, romantic, intimate venues, but the experience drained away all its magic and showed me its true character. Be very careful doing business with them.
