Why would a hotel put a speaker right outside a window and play loud music 24/7? The sign asking guests to respect others and keep quiet is a joke when the hotel itself blasts music at 1 am.

I was really disappointed by the room-service desserts. The only dessert they offered was malva pudding with custard. It was very dry and tiny for R85, and the custard looked old. I also asked for cake and was offered only vanilla, which was just as dry. The cake and pudding together cost R160. To make it worse, they served the desserts with tomato sauce, which is completely inappropriate and shows no attention to basic service standards. That’s not what I’d expect from a 4-star hotel.

The room was clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Still, the facilities and room quality fell far short of what I expected from a 4-star place. Our classic king room was much smaller than the photos online suggested, which was disappointing for the price. There was just one plug point in the whole room, the curtain had a visible hole, and no room-service menus were provided, which made ordering difficult.

This was probably some of the worst service we’ve had across all our travels and stays. The previous day, staff hadn’t replaced the teaspoon for our coffee. At 5 am, when we asked for one, we were told, “oh sorry, we cannot help you at 5am in the morning.” We couldn’t reach reception or room service by phone, so we went to reception in person and got the same don’t-care attitude. They said they couldn’t get hold of room service. We asked if we could take a teaspoon from the dining area, which was open, but were told that wasn’t allowed. Where is the service level of Mondior Hotel?
