Kariega Game Reserve - River Lodge

Those sundowner stops with views over the plains were wonderful, and the early coffee and rusk breaks were a treat too. We saw so much. I also appreciated the reserve's firm rules about keeping a respectful distance from the animals, so they aren't harassed. Our guide AK was excellent and very personable, and the whole team was friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were really good, and the accommodation suited us perfectly. The reserve clearly cares about conservation. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

The Main Lodge and Restaurant are lovely, with a beautiful view, and everyone we met was friendly and funny. But the Game Drives were the real highlight, absolutely stunning and left us speechless. Julia Hay was a trustworthy, funny, and friendly guide, and we learned so much from her about the animals and their natural behavior, the landscape, and South African culture. We'd love to have her as our guide again. Highly recommend Kariega Game Reserve!

The animal care and conservation work here is second to none. We stayed in lovely, comfortable lodges among the trees, and had brilliant game drives with Darren, our very knowledgeable guide.

Amber made our stay special. She was warm, knowledgeable, and passionate, and we loved both the activities and the conversations with her. The staff were all welcoming and helpful, and the lodge's setting and breathtaking views were stunning. The whole visit was unforgettable, and we can't wait to return.
