Kalahari Lodge

After arriving hot, tired and hungry, we found the restaurant and bar closed and the pool and surrounding area filthy. The shower was cold, and the toilet kept running water all night. What a disappointing stay.

I stay here often, and there's usually a room available even when I forget to book. It's hotel-style, with long corridors to walk down to reach the rooms. The restaurant food is good and the portions are generous, and the African Grey by the entrance is a nice touch. Four stars because I once found a plaster in the shower. 🤢🤮

It's a nice place to stay, near enough to drive quickly to the shops but on the edge of town where it's quieter.

After driving over 1000 km, I was looking forward to dinner at Kalahari Lodge on our one-night stay on 3 June 2025. Only on arrival did we learn the restaurant closes at 15:00. Booking.com hadn't mentioned this, and the lodge hadn't told us in advance. Knowing that, we would have booked elsewhere. It was a major inconvenience after such a long trip. The next morning, breakfast was also a problem. I'd specifically asked for it to be included and had written confirmation from the lodge, but our names weren't on the list. We showed proof, yet the staff made no effort to sort it out or find a solution, so we had to leave and get breakfast somewhere else. That was completely unacceptable. There was only one towel in the room too, adding to the poor service and lack of attention. The lodge and its facilities seem to be deteriorating, much like the rest of Kimberley. I won't return to Kalahari Lodge, and I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their service and communication with guests.
