Villa Mexicana Guesthouse

The lady who greeted us on arrival was friendly and expected us, but the rest of the accommodation was disappointing. We didn't have enough towels, so I had to ask for another one. There was no drinking water as advertised and no kettle in the room. The curtains weren't clean, and the pillowcases were torn in places. I also had to ask for the Wi-Fi password. After I'd asked for things three times, the lady wanted to check the room. I think everything should be checked before guests arrive. I'm sorry, but I won't stay here again.

The accommodation was excellent and great value for money. I'd skip breakfast, pay for the room only, and get breakfast in town instead. 😊

The room looked nice at first, with working aircon, tasteful decor, and clean bedding, but the stay went downhill quickly. I had booked two adults and a child for two nights, and the booking confirmation clearly showed three people. On arrival, I was told I hadn't indicated that, so they had to move us to a different room. The toilet leaked, and showering left the whole floor wet, including around the toilet and bath. In the kitchenette there was one coffee cup, enough coffee for one serving, and no sugar. The worst part came at breakfast. We were told it wasn't included, even after I showed the person on duty the website where I'd booked, which said it was offered. He just stood his ground and said, “no breakfast.” I won't stay here or refer anyone, and I'm going to submit a complaint to the Consumers Board. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.

The neighbourhood was quiet, and the room was relatively clean, but the upkeep seemed neglected despite the hotel's potential. Agoda debited R726.75 twice from my account, so I paid R1 453,5 per night for a very average room. The place didn't look like the photos, and there was only one staff member, who wasn't very friendly. The Executive room didn't have the promised bath, nor a hot tub or bottled water in the refrigerator. The place was empty, even though it had been advertised as having only one space left. When we raised the mismatch, the staff member took us to the honeymoon suite, which was much better and in good condition.
