The garden and pool were a real highlight, with mountain views and a lovely, carefully arranged garden that felt like a little slice of Eden. The common areas are spacious, gorgeous, and welcoming, with a relaxed atmosphere. Inside, the property feels thoughtfully put together, authentically South African, airy and open but still cosy. The fixtures and fittings make it intriguing without being distracting, and the rooms are well appointed, with fantastic beds and quaint, self-contained ensuite bathrooms. The staff service was brilliant, including restaurant suggestions nearby and for our onward travels. Bronwyn was a gem and made us feel exceptionally welcome. This 4 star guest house feels like an understated gem from the owners of villa chad.

Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The gardens and pool, with beautiful mountain views, are a lovely place to relax in this tranquil setting. We arrived on a cold afternoon, so sitting outside wasn't an option. We wanted to watch a rugby game at 6pm, but there were no TVs in the rooms or lounge, so we had to find a pub or restaurant in town. The bathroom and toilet being open plan without a door is a negative for me, though that's just personal preference. The main bedroom windows face the hallway and need to stay shut, since with them open you can hear every word from the room. I didn't want to disturb other guests while talking or playing music on our phones.

Good for a one-night stopover, though the ambience could use some work. It would help to have a TV in the luxury rooms, soft background music in the breakfast and reception area, a regularly cleaned pool, and the fountain running.

We had a delicious, generous breakfast and enjoyed the well appointed rooms and grounds. The service was 5 star, and the place feels very upmarket, just right for discerning travellers. What a treat to stay at Villa Chad. We'll be back for the special service and beauty of the place. Thank you, Louise and Ernie, for making our stay so special.
