Head over Hills Luxury Retreat

The food was really good, with a smaller selection but everything we tried was high quality. The whole property was spotless, and the staff were kind and polite. TC was especially welcoming and friendly, and the owners were lovely too. Waking up to those incredible views from every angle makes the price feel worthwhile.

Nenike brought so much fun and joy to our stay, and the whole team was kind and always smiling. The food was excellent, with a talented chef happy to work with requests. From our room, the view felt almost magical, and the service was top-notch.

The wine cellar is a real treat for anyone into food or wine. We came for an anniversary dinner and had a wonderful evening, with everything from the email booking to the service from sommelier TC going so well. As locals, we’ll be back more often. It was our first visit, and we only wish we’d found the place sooner.

The restaurant’s price to quality was okay, but the hotel itself didn’t feel like five stars to me. The Whales suite had a spectacular view, and that was the only part that matched the price. The room felt closer to three stars, and the hotel at best four, based on the views. The curtains are folding panels, and every night it was a struggle to close them against the morning light. In the morning, opening them was just as difficult and often didn’t work, so we could only enjoy part of that view. The owners should spend a night in this room and see the problems for themselves. The bathroom was another issue, and the photos show it. The toilet lid started falling as soon as it was raised, before there was time to sit, so you had to sit on it or have it against your back. The shower had no mixer tap, and its cubicle door didn’t shut properly unless you squeezed it closed. We live in Europe, and every three-star Ibis we’ve stayed in has had a better shower than this “five-star boutique hotel.” Five stars should mean everything is impeccable, and that wasn’t the case here.
