I booked the whole 6-bed and 8-bed options so my party would have privacy, though we didn’t use every bed. The doors didn’t lock properly, and people kept coming in and out despite my booking the entire room. Some of my party felt unsafe enough to move out and make other arrangements. Those who stayed couldn’t sleep because of the noise, the comings and goings, and the general feeling of being unsafe. Hearing what happened left me very unhappy, and I regret booking here.

My first holiday in knysna was at the knysna back packers, and it’s the beat place to stay. Beautiful views and excellent service. Can’t wait to go back.

The hosts really made this place for me. They’re welcoming, helpful folk who add that human touch, and the rooms are super neat. From the front porch, there’s a lovely view over town and the lagoon. It’s a beautiful Edwardian homestead, one of the best local stays I’ve had in ages. I enjoyed my time here and will definitely be back. It’s one of my top recommendations for Knysna.

The staff were super friendly, and the breakfast was good. I also found the kitchen well equipped. It’s a really beautiful hostel, and I love the architecture. There’s no bar or anything like that, but I didn’t miss having one. The place felt more like home than other backpackers I’ve stayed at. They also offer free, uncapped WiFi!

The breakfast was lovely, and we joined a really interesting low tide tour led by a hostel volunteer. Knysna Backpackers is a pretty house, though it was a bit moist and there were only 2 bathrooms. The WiFi was really bad. I still had quite an enjoyable stay, helped by the super nice staff and the other guests who were there at the same time.
