2/10
The beds were horribly uncomfortable, and it took about 10 minutes of running the shower before the water got warm. That seems especially wasteful during the severe drought the country is experiencing. The air felt stale, with no circulation. We were told by the owner that the apartment was soundproof, but that turned out to be very untrue: we heard every word of songs from the nightclub across the street until 03:30, then long conversations from partygoers on the street and homeless people raging about their trolleys. It had only the bare basics. It was clean at first, but by the second day ants had taken over. When we raised these problems with the owner, he became aggressive and arrogant. A very poor experience.

We left booking until the last minute, but luckily there was still space here. The former offices have been converted into apartments, and ours was clean with a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly, and the location was convenient.

The staff were so willing to go the extra mile, and the customer service, flexibility and place itself were all amazing.

The rooms at Knysna Penthouse are neat and clean, and it’s the best place to stay. I’ll definitely come back.
