Knysna Wayside Inn

The staff at the Knysna Wayside Inn were excellent, friendly, and helpful. There was always someone at the front desk to answer questions or sort out concerns, which I appreciated. The inn had the amenities I needed, including reliable internet, and the price was reasonable for the location and what was offered. The inn itself was in a relatively safe, peaceful area, a welcome break from the busier parts of town. Shopping areas and restaurants were nearby, though the shopping areas weren’t as well maintained as I’d have liked, and I didn’t feel entirely safe walking around them. My room was clean and well maintained, with comfortable beds and tasteful decor mixing modern and vintage elements. The shower pressure was too high and made it a bit uncomfortable to use. The bathroom counter was also loose, so I had to be careful not to lean on it too hard in case it broke. Overall, I had a positive stay and would consider returning.

We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived until we left. The spacious room was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and we slept like babies. It took me back to memories of elegant hotel stays in my youth. Breakfast was exceptional and made to suit our personal preferences. The service was friendly and professional. We’ll definitely visit again.

The room was comfortable, and Melissa’s warm hospitality made up for a lot. She even made the braai utensils available so the guides and drivers could enjoy a really tasty braai. A few things made this hotel, or motel, feel ordinary. There was no hot water or WiFi during load shedding, which first lasted two hours and then four. We also had to sit outside in icy cold weather for breakfast.

The breakfast was pleasant, and the little BnB was nice. It wasn't huge, but it was enough. The hard part was arriving after an eight-hour drive at 4am and having to sleep in the parking lot because they wouldn't let us check in early. Around 7am, with nearly 12 hours on the road and two young kids who needed the toilet, we asked the concierge again. He said no. We were even willing to pay for another day, but he said other guests checked out at 11am and he couldn't fit us in. We had to walk around town until check-in at 1pm. I understand rules are rules, but sometimes things happen. At least Woolworths in Knysna mall was open at 7am, so we could get something to eat.
