Pezula Nature Retreat

We booked Pezula as a stop on our drive along the Garden Route, and it went beyond what we expected. The hotel and spa were beautiful, and the golf course was stunning. We also really enjoyed the food, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely look at coming back.

The view was breathtaking in every direction, whether we looked toward the ocean and golf course or the lagoon. It’s a lovely spot for golf lovers, surrounded by nature and about a 20-30 minute drive from places like the elephant park and Plettenberg Bay. I enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. The breakfast was great, with a buffet and a la carte choices, fresh juice, pastries and fruit, plus cheeses and charcuterie. Eggs were made to order, and the coffee and tea were on par, pun intended! The spa has a Finnish sauna, Turkish steam room and warm indoor pool, with massages available from 9am to 6pm. There’s also a well-equipped-looking gym, which I didn’t use, and morning yoga classes. We liked the outdoor hot tub in our room, which you heat with wood. The room was comfortable, though the rug needed cleaning and the lighting could use some attention. The air conditioning didn’t quite work, and seemed more like a heat exchange system. Late November was bearable with a fan, and we had a downstairs room that should have been cooler, so I wouldn’t want to visit in the height of summer. The front desk, restaurant, spa and porters all gave great service. Big thanks to Mr. Henri at front desk, Thuleka at the restaurant, Ritchie the porter, and Andalie and Beauty from the spa. Housekeeping needs some improvement or more training. Requests for things for the room took ages, when they arrived at all, and we often had to follow up two or three times. The garden is maintained, but could be lusher, especially with more flowers.

We spent the weekend at Pezula for my husband’s birthday, and the staff did so much to make the stay special. The service, food, gorgeous room and friendly people all made our experience outstanding. We’ll definitely return. Pezula Nature Retreat is going to be my regular weekend escape.

From the restaurant to the spa, the service was par excellence. Special thanks to Phula. After the massage, that hot water bed was heavenly. With an ice drink, sauna, steam room and heated pool, it’s the perfect place to relax. One of the best rest and relaxation experiences I’ve had. I’ve traveled from Cancun and Barbados in the West all the way to Guangzho China in the East, and this ranks among the best. Thank you to the whole team at Pezula Nature Retreat.
