We were repeatedly told what we weren't allowed to do, with the owner/manager checking in every two hours. When we arrived, he introduced himself as the owner and said we couldn't smoke hubbly in the house, which we had no intention of doing. Then he said he was only the manager, that there was a camera in the house, and the owner wouldn't be happy with him if we smoked. We let it go, even though we knew he was the owner, the place is named after him. The advertised pool table was there, but we weren't allowed to play. The kitchen is outside, shared with everyone, and so small only two people can fit. We offered to clean the rooms ourselves and let the cleaning lady handle the dishes and everything else, but when there wasn't enough toilet paper, he blamed us and the poor cleaner. The mattresses were very thin, and the old duvet covers made the beds hard. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place.

My stay was a disaster and nothing like what had been promised. In the downstairs rooms, the Wi-Fi is very poor, and the TV is even worse. At this day and age, the guest house still only has SABC 1,2,3 & 4.

The owner is extremely rude and intrusive. He unlocks the door and walks into your place whenever he wants. He asked for a deposit, then wouldn't return it when I left. After the stay, he kept bothering me by phone, text and WhatsApp, speaking rudely and accusing me of things that never happened. I would never recommend this experience. I'd like to see what lies he comes up with in reply.

It felt like a home away from home, and we really enjoyed our stay. The owner gave us a friendly welcome and helped us get settled. The place was neat, safe and clean. Highly recommended.

The room was comfortable, tidy and clean. A kettle and small fridge in the room would make it even nicer.
