We had a lovely two night stay last weekend. Alex was a friendly, capable host, and we had a spacious room in the house, a covered pool area that was easy to use, and very good breakfasts. We often stay here because my 90 year old mom lives in the retirement home right next door to Ladismith Manor.

We were at Ladismith Manor in February, just before lockdown. Peanut the cat patiently lets guests who want to cuddle him do so. Alex, the owner and host, knows all about the area and is happy to help. He’s accommodating, a superb chef, and a really great guy.

Alex is a lovely host and a superb cook. Dinner by the crackling fire was very comforting, especially his Butter chicken or Thai Green curry, which showed his love of curries. If he’s been baking, you might even get one of his delicious Scottish shortbread biscuits. Ladismith Manor is clean, cosy and welcoming, in a quaint house that makes a great stop while travelling through the Karoo, one of the safest towns. I enjoyed several walks around the Ladismith “koppies”, which suit any age. Hiking @Towerkop is exhilarating, but not for the faint hearted. The drive through Seweweekspoort mountain pass was impressive, and we finished with a casual lunch and wine tasting at De Krans. I highly recommend staying here.

Our car broke down in Ladismith, so we were lucky to have booked at Ladismith Manor. Alex, the owner, went above and beyond to help us during the unexpected extra time we had to stay. Highly recommended.

Such a great little find on route 62. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with a special touch. Alex was gracious and went out of his way to make us feel at home. Very recommended.
