The self-catering cottage was lovely, spotless, and well equipped, with great views and walks on the working farm. We booked at short notice. The sign off the busy N3 could be better, and the farm track may be tricky for low-clearance cars.

We loved the cottage, simple but stylish, with donkeys, geese, and a sheep right outside the window. The hosts were super friendly, and we spent plenty of time relaxing on the terrace. This was our third stay, and this time we stayed for more than just a stop on the way south. We went hiking with the dogs, with Bingo, the farm's dachshund, always at our feet. The kids also had a great time on two outrides. Aloe Cottage works so well for a stay with dogs because it's fenced. We weren't quite sure how our new little family members would manage, but they soon befriended the big and small farm dogs and other animals, and could walk with us off leash. A lovely farm stay.

The rooms are very nice, but there was a water problem and we couldn't shower.

Just perfect. I wish we'd stayed longer, and I couldn't recommend it more.

We found the little garden cottage picture perfect, and I liked our two days there despite the issues. The place is old and doesn't seem properly maintained. The structure wasn't clean, though the bedding, bathroom, and kitchenette were okay. The owners were lovely, but their large dogs weren't properly trained to stay in the garden. My wife and I had a demanding but satisfying day exploring the surrounding area on foot. Since it's along Van Reenen pass, we also got to visit that historic village.
