Silver Rest Guesthouse

The area was quiet, the rooms clean, and the staff friendly and professional. There were a few days without water during my stay, but they brought out buckets and kept guests updated on the municipality’s progress. The landline can take a while to get answered. I’m happy with the place.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The dining room was being used as a laundry area, and when we arrived the woman was ironing linens there. The owner came out in a nightgown in the morning to see us off, which I found repulsive and left me with nasty thoughts. A colleague had warned us that the landlady had previously come out in a gown to serve breakfast. We just wanted to sleep and leave, but seeing it ourselves made it worse. Did I mention the gown?

Stayed a few days and really enjoyed it. The place was so clean, and the service was super friendly.

The TVs are outdated and there’s no DStv at the moment. The microwaves have been taken out of the rooms and put in a shared space far away, so there’s no privacy when using them. They might also want to consider air conditioning that can heat the room in winter. The wall heaters don’t make much difference, even when left on all night.
