Elephant Walk Retreat

The wildlife made a big impression, especially the hippos chatting nearby. During our last brunch, we watched baboons cross the bridge back to Kruger. The views were incredible, and we loved how close the park was. The tents were lovely and very clean, and the shower worked perfectly. Meals were delicious home-style cooking, and the team went out of their way to accommodate one person in our group who has celiac disease. We were travelling with a tour group and were welcomed like family as soon as we got off the bus. Cindy and her family have made this a wonderful place. We felt safe and well looked after throughout our stay, and had such a good time we didn’t want to leave. A five-star experience for us. Thank you!

The safari was a 10/10, and the place itself was spotless with amazing staff. Honestly, I’d live here. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed. You have my word, you won’t regret it.

We booked a chalet and a cabin for eight people, but when we arrived at night they gave us only the cabin and said the chalet was under construction. The cabin was okay for squeezing all of us in, so we made do and stayed, but we asked for a refund for the cottage. A month later, we’re still waiting, and they aren’t replying. This place is a construction site and nothing like the photos. We were scammed! Be aware that Ngwenya Lodge is very close by. It’s a four-star hotel with amazing facilities and the same incredible view over Kruger Park, at a fraction of the price. Even if this place were finished, it could never match their service or prices.

We spent six nights at Elephant Walk Retreat and were very dissatisfied. The chalet was dirty and dusty, with cobwebs everywhere, a filthy shaggy carpet, dirty door tracks, and curtains that didn’t fit. The toilet smelled of sewage, our toilet paper disappeared one day, and some sheets had stains that might have been blood. The bent door keys were sticky to use. The showers were awful: cold water took ten minutes to warm up, then came out scalding and blasted us. The kitchen is outside and very hot, and we only had three mismatched teaspoons. The kettle was full of lime. Camping at R4000 per night is very expensive. We won’t go back!
